They’re not canoes, they’re not outriggers they are Dragon Boats!!

If you happen to observe two 12 metre fibre glass boats each with 20 paddlers on board exercising on the water around Noosa Sound – you have sighted “Dragons Boats”

Over the coming weekend of 8^th and 9^th October the Queensland Dragon Boat Federation (QDBF) is convening a Master Class Coaching Workshop based from their accommodation at Skipper’s Cove Resort.

Forty dragon boat coaches and paddlers representing Clubs from Cairns to Tweed Heads will be participating under the expert tutelage of “Canadian National High Performance Coach” Kamini Jain and her co coach Leanne Zrum.  Both ladies experienced ‘Gold & Silver’ successes at the recent International Dragon Boat World Championships held in Tampa Florida, August 2011.

The organiser of the weekend Workshop Maggie Boyce commented that the waterways in Noosa are a perfect location to hold this event. We hope during the course of our two days of paddling we will provide an interesting spectacle and perhaps raise the profile of our unique water sport.

The origins of Dragon Boating date back over 2000 years, and is now represented in 62 countries. Dragon Boating is proving to be one of the fastest growing team sports both nationally and internationally. “On the Noosa waterfront apartments we have 2 bedroom 2 bathroom fully self contained apartments that take a max of 4 (Q, 2XS)   and some others that can take a max of 5 as they have a third sleeping area.

Also on the waterfront holiday apartments  we have the base 2 bedroom 2 bathroom accommodation options.  We also have 3 bedroom 3 bathroom apartments on the waterfront taking a max of 6 people – these are 2 level to the water views with both the ground floor deck and a super master bedroom balcony.”

Skippers Cove also have poolside holiday apartments that give very spacious 2 level townhouse style apartment living and guests of which have full access to the waterfront facilities.  These apartments are 2 bedroom sleeping 4 ( Q & 2XS) but can take 5 people max with the addition of a fold up bed and a fifth person charge.  The poolside tariff level is less than the waterfront.  .
